Description

The Safety, Health, and Environmental (SH&E) Specialist will be responsible for: 

implementing and maintaining programs for safety, health, and environmental protection

compliance to local, state, and federal regulations; inspection and oversight of best management practices;

Participating in emergency planning activities; integrating safety health and environmental programs in a manufacturing environment; and training of employees and subcontractors.

Develops and implements programs to ensure that regulatory obligations are fulfilled in a cost-effective manner and that SH&E risks are effectively managed. Prepares related reports and studies for submission to regulatory agencies.

Assists with hazardous material and waste management, groundwater remediation, air emissions reporting, wastewater reporting, and environmental sustainability. Some supervisory responsibilities may be required, primarily focusing on coordinating and leading projects.

Other duties and job responsibilities as assigned.


Skills Required


Previous experience with hazardous waste management 

Knowledge of SH&E regulations (OSHA, RCRA, DOT, ADEM, EPA) and modern SH&E management principles 

Ability to communicate complex information effectively with employees and all levels of site management (written and verbal) 

Ability to work in a team environment and take initiative individually. 

Ability to evaluate industrial processes and develop solutions. 

Project Management skills

Familiarity with audit processes 

Ability to coach and consult with line management, at all levels relative, to building a culture and processes that lead to excellent SH&E performance. 

Exceptional organizational skills

Experience facilitating meetings and working groups. 

Possess basic knowledge of Safety/Health & Environmental Management Systems (ISO 45001/ISO 14001 requirements) 

Work proficiently with Microsoft Office

Skills Preferred

Knowledge of engineering, chemical, physical, and biological sciences 

Experience managing significant environmental programs, including hazardous waste, air emissions, wastewater, spill prevention, etc. 

CHMM, CSP, CIH, certification

Experience Required

3+ years of Safety/Health and/or Environmental Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, regulatory, or consulting company with increasing responsibilities. ·

Education Required

Bachelor's degree in environmental, safety or equivalent field

Education: Bachelors Degree

Certification: Certified Hazardous Materials Manager , CERTIFIED INDUSTRIAL HYGIENIST , Certified Safety Professional
