Job Summary

Evaluates and approves construction, construction plans, and installation procedures to maintain compliance with all University regulations and mitigate issues. Inspects University buildings' safety and construction policies for adherence; reviews University policies for improvements. Assists to develop a construction safety program.

Essential Functions

-Safety Program Development: Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures that comply with applicable regulations and promote a safe campus environment.

-Compliance Management: Ensure the university is in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulatory requirements. Maintain records and documentation for all safety-related activities and inspections.

-Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits across various departments and facilities. Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.

-Training and Education: Design and deliver safety training programs for faculty, staff, and students. Ensure all campus personnel are informed and trained on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and hazard communication.

-Accident Investigation: Lead investigations into workplace accidents, injuries, and near-misses. Determine root causes and implement measures to prevent recurrence.

-Safety Communication: Act as the primary contact for safety concerns on campus. Communicate safety updates, tips, and alerts to the university community through various channels.

-Collaboration: Work closely with campus departments, facilities management, public safety, and external agencies to coordinate safety initiatives and ensure campus-wide cooperation.

-Provide assistance: Assist others in the department when necessary. Help the Industrial hygiene team with any safety concerns.

-Regulatory Reporting: Review annual OSHA reports and maintain up-to-date records of all safety and compliance activities.

-Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry best practices, emerging safety technologies, and regulatory changes. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance campus safety.
