Pay: $50/hr

Job Summary:

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Safety Specialist to join our team for a turnaround project. The Safety Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental performance throughout the project. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in safety management, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Safety Planning and Implementation:
   
   
   • Develop and implement safety plans, policies, and procedures for the turnaround project.
   • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety issues.
   • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations and industry standards.
2. Training and Communication:
   
   
   • Conduct safety training and orientation sessions for all project personnel.
   • Promote a strong safety culture through regular communication and engagement with team members.
   • Provide clear and concise safety instructions and guidelines.
3. Inspections and Audits:
   
   
   • Perform regular safety inspections and audits of the project site.
   • Identify and report safety hazards, near misses, and incidents.
   • Recommend corrective actions and follow up to ensure implementation.
4. Incident Management:
   
   
   • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes.
   • Prepare detailed reports and documentation for incidents and corrective actions.
   • Collaborate with the project team to develop and implement preventive measures.
5. Emergency Preparedness:
   
   
   • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
   • Conduct emergency drills and simulations to ensure readiness.
   • Coordinate with local emergency services and first responders as needed.
6. Documentation and Reporting:
   
   
   • Maintain accurate records of safety activities, incidents, and compliance.
   • Prepare and submit regular safety reports to the Safety Manager and project stakeholders.
   • Ensure all safety documentation is up-to-date and accessible.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 1+ years of experience in safety management, preferably in turnaround projects.
• Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or equivalent.
• In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety regulations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.

Working Conditions:

• This is a temporary, project-based position with the potential for extended hours, including nights and weekends, depending on the project schedule.
• The role may involve working in various environmental conditions, including outdoor and industrial settings.
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required as per project and site requirements.
