About This Role:

The KSU Police Department is looking for a Safety and Security Officer I to join their team. The Safety & Security Officer I receives written and oral instructions from their supervisor indicating assigned work area, information on buildings in use, and the opening/closing times of buildings in assigned areas. The supervisor closely checks the safety and security officer's daily shift reports and security reports for completeness. The Safety and Security Officer works independently and unsupervised while performing their duties.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to read and understand written laws, rules, regulations, and directives.
  • Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations which pertain to the University.
  • Capable of detecting and reporting conditions which might cause loss or damage to property.
  • Be able to work under stressful situations and maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers, faculty/staff, students, clients, and guests.
  • Ability to make written reports in a clear and concise manner.

Other Requirements:
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of employment.
  • Valid driver's license once employed.
  • Must be of good moral character.
  • CPR and First Aid certification necessary after employment. (Within probation).
  • Must undergo a background investigation to include a fingerprint search of local, state, and national files to determine whether a criminal record exists.
  • Must not have been convicted by any state or federal government of a felonious crime or its equivalent.
  • Some positions require an approved drug test unless the incumbent is moving from one safety-sensitive position to another safety-sensitive position with the same agency performing substantially similar duties.
