AWS Aerospace Solutions provides fully managed global services that allows our customers to easily and cost-effectively control satellites, downlink satellite collected data, transport data across the globe, ingest satellite data, and innovate with other AWS Services. It provides satellite customers ground station services with no ground station infrastructure commitments, usage-based per-minute pricing, self-service scheduling, and a global network of ground stations in close proximity to AWS Regions so customers can access AWS services, infrastructure and global network within milliseconds of downlinking data from their satellite.

Key job responsibilities

Software development engineer positions require a depth and breadth of knowledge in design and development, experience with agile methodologies, proficiency in a high-level language, and experience building highly scalable systems involving distributed services and persistent storage. You will own the design of major deliverable and have opportunities to build them from scratch. This is a high visibility and fast-paced environment where you will make a direct impact on the customer experience and the bottom line of the company.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

- 2+ years of professional software engineering experience in Rust.

- 1+ years of professional network programming experience in Rust, C, or C#

- CS fundamentals including data structures, algorithms and complexity analysis

- Proven track record of taking ownership and successfully delivering results

- Experience with satellite communications and/or ground station operations

- Experience with service-oriented architecture

- Understanding of performance tradeoffs, load balancing and operational issues

- Ability to clearly and concisely communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders across all levels of the organization

- Demonstrated ability to mentor other software developers to maintain architectural vision and software quality

- Working in building large-scale, high-performance systems in a complex, multi-tiered, distributed environment

- Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
