Job Description

SCOPE OF POSITION
The Scheduling Team Lead is responsible for managing the clinician Master Schedule for multiple locations, ensuring appropriate coverage for all areas, including hospitals, specialty clinics, diagnostic interpretations for Ballad Health and contract private practices, holiday, weekend, and call coverage. This role is also responsible for accurate data entry into various computer systems and leading the day-to-day work activities of team members performing scheduling activities. Schedules all patients for procedures and surgeries. Informs patients and referring offices of arrival times and special prep instructions for procedures/surgeries. Provides excellent customer service by communicating clearly and professionally to other clinics, team members and patients; ensuring to observe Ballad Health Core Values of Respect and Caring. Provides a positive initial introduction of Ballad Health Medical Associates to patients and referring physicians as it relates to financial obligations and procedures. Accurately maintains patient information in EPIC and ensures HIPPA is observed. Performs patient scheduling and contacts insurance companies to obtain authorizations as well as benefit eligibility information for all procedures. Communicates as needed with clinician and management, providing updates on scheduling and order request issues. Various duties as they arise.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required - High School Graduate and 3 years' experience in the medical field. Successful completion of a medical terminology course or must complete within one year of assuming position.
Excellent multi-tasking and attention to detail. Must have ability to communicate clearly and kindly with patients, clinicians, and co-workers. Ability to maintain confidentiality and observe HIPAA compliance.
Preferred:
Completion of Medical Secretary or Medical Assistant Program.
