Job Summary
The Office of Student Health and Wellness (OSHW) aims to eliminate health-related barriers to learning and promote health equity. OSHW leads the district's COVID-19 school-based vaccination program for students, staff, and families via regional vaccination clinics and mobile vaccination events. Under the general direction of the Director, OSHW, the School Health Assistant will provide customer service to patients (students, staff, and family members) arriving at the school-based COVID-19 vaccination clinic for services.
This is a part-time/temporary position and the work location may vary based on needs of the program at various city-wide locations.

The School Health Assistant will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:
- Welcome patients and reinforce COVID-19 response mitigation strategies with visitors including social distancing, correct and consistent mask wearing.
- Provide on-site patient registration at these city-wide vaccination events
- Assist customers with appointment scheduling and/or registration
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the School Health Assistant must possess the following qualifications:
Education Required:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
Experience Required:
- Minimum of 1 year of professional work experience, or volunteer experience preferred.
- Previous K-12 school experience is preferred
- Previous healthcare experience is preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to report to work in person
- Ability to report to work on time to the assigned location
- Strong communication skills (speaking - listening, and writing)
- Ability to utilize CPS Google for Education Suite (email, calendar, etc.)
- Ability to use technology such as a laptop
Conditions of Employment
As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to:
- Establish/Maintain Chicago Residency - Employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district.
- Be Fully Vaccinated or Submit to Weekly COVID-19 Testing - Employees are required to be fully vaccinated within 30 days of their hire date. Full vaccination is defined as at least two weeks after your second shot of a two-shot vaccination course, or at least two weeks after a one-shot vaccination course. Unvaccinated staff must submit to weekly testing.
