Adjuncts are essential to Liberty University's mission of Training Champions for Christ. Summary:

An adjunct professor for the Department of Counselor Education & Family Studies will be responsible for the administration, facilitation, and teaching of classes of approx. 14-25 residential students from around the country and international. This job entails daily internet interaction with students pursuing a graduate or doctoral degree in the fields of Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Marriage & Family Counseling.

Adjunct Professors will perform administrative tasks, interact with students through course lectures, grading, and build relationships while under the supervision of the Chair.

Other responsibilities include:
  • Teaching material from approved curriculum in accordance with assigned schedule to ensure student satisfaction.
  • Assisting students in achieving completion of objectives and learning outcomes.
  • Providing regular and timely feedback to students.
  • Advising students in matters related to academics, attendance, and behaviors.
  • Motivating students to actively participate in all aspect of the educational process.
  • Maintaining and reporting student grades and attendance in accordance with university policies.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree in counseling or related field.
  • Professional or clinical counseling experience
  • Candidates will demonstrate knowledge of their field and application of current counseling practices.
  • Previous experience with online learning management systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of faith integration and biblical concepts.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Counseling licensure/certification such as NCC, LPC, or LMFT
  • Doctoral degree in counselor education and supervision or related field from a CACREP accredited program.
  • Candidates should have experience teaching in higher education with preference given to those who have taught in the residential environment.
  • A strong professional identity demonstrated through advanced credentialing, certifications, presentations, publications, and service to the profession.
  • Experience working with the Canvas learning management system.
