Job Description

The VASORUM lab in the NextGen Precision Health building is currently seeking a Scientist Lead position provide cardiovascular and metabolic testing expertise and services in support of federally (an non-federally) funded clinical research.

Job duties include:
  • Participates in the consenting process for human research studies.
  • Performs the assessments of cardiovascular and metabolic function in human subjects enrolled in clinical studies, including Doppler ultrasound-based measurements of endothelial function and blood flow, contrast-enhanced ultrasound-based measurements of skeletal muscle perfusion, tonometry-based measures of arterial stiffness, measures of glycocalyx integrity, measures of glucose tolerance, and measures of insulin sensitivity as assessed using the hyperinsulinemic-euglycemic clamp, among other techniques.
  • Performs the offline image processing and data analysis for the above measurements using specialized software.
  • Compiles the data into a master spreadsheet.
  • Contributes to statistical analysis.
  • Prepares figures and illustrations for publications and progress reports.
  • Maintains a direct and fluid communication with study coordinator, research nurse, medical director, and principal investigators.
  • Participates in the training of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in techniques related to human cardiovascular and metabolic function measures.
  • Supervises graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in their execution of human cardiovascular and metabolic research studies.
  • Contributes to assuring that all study protocols are compliant and performed following established SOPs.
  • Attends weekly research group meetings as human studies allow.

Minimum Qualifications

A Master's degree in related/ relevant area and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Additional degree and licensures as required by state/federal laws

Preferred Qualifications

PhD in related/relevant area

Salary Range: $67,746 - $100,027 per year
