Job Description:

We are looking to add a Senior RF Systems Engineer to our team. The ideal candidate has experience in designing, simulating, building antennas from HF to Millimeter wave. We prefer an expertise in HFSS with recent experience or an expertise in CST with HFSS experience.

This role is for an individual who is open to additional learning and would relish the opportunity to immerse themselves in both project work and deeper RF theory to support our IRAD activities. The ideal candidate should have experience in both RF and Digital beamforming and associated optimization routines for various systems solutions.

You will be a part of a multi-discipline engineering team working on diverse antenna subsystem projects. As a Senior RF Systems Engineer, you will be designing antenna systems from simple mono-pole to complex steerable phased arrays. You will be simulating unique antenna design solutions that meet or exceed customer requirements, communicating and monitoring the fabrication of your parts, providing status updates to leadership, testing prototypes on one of our five in-house antenna ranges and optimizing the design to achieve best performance.

Essential Functions:
  • Design antenna components and systems to customer requirements on a variety of platforms and operating environments.
  • Work primarily in CST or ANSYS HFSS to design, model, and optimize antenna assemblies and phased arrays.
  • Interact directly with customers to provide updates on program status and reviews.
  • Create novel solutions and designs that provide unique RF function.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians in the design, build, and test phases of RF projects and programs.
  • Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems involving antenna/sensor-based applications such as electronic warfare, electronic attack, electronic support measures, communications, geolocation, direction finding, etc.
  • Collaborate with project management to coordinate development team's activities and manage project schedule

Qualifications:
  • Requires mastery level knowledge within a specific technical area or multiple job areas. Viewed as an expert and/or resource within the field by peers in and outside the organization. Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in CST with HFSS experience.
  • Must have solid understanding of HF to mmW antenna fundamentals, as well as design and performance trade-offs
  • Familiarity with antenna ranges and pattern testing (farfield, nearfield, compact, etc)
  • Demonstrated familiarity with Vector Network Analyzer calibration and measurement. Familiarity with spectrum analyzers, function generators, oscilloscopes, DMM, etc.
  • Familiarity with analysis software - Python, VB, MatLab, etc.
  • Familiarity with microstrip, stripline, and co-planar waveguide transmission lines
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance

Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Analytical design experience using software and simulation tools such as AWR Microwave Office/Agilent ADS, CST, FEKO, and HFSS.
  • Execute schematic capture and support PCB layout of RF circuits
  • Experience with capture tools such as Mentor and Cadence
  • Experience with passive microwave circuit design including baluns, impedance transformers, Wilkinson combiners, and hybrid power combiners.
  • Familiarity with air to ground propagation modeling in the HF to mmW frequency range
  • Experience in the analysis and design of multi-octave phased array antennas
