Job Summary:

Seasonal Admissions First Readers play a critical role within first-year admission, reviewing application materials and carefully entering data regarding academic performance and rigor of curriculum. First Readers must be able to accurately and efficiently input academic data while maintaining a high level of confidentiality. Readers need to be available a minimum of 10 hours per week from October 1st through April 1st.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Reviews application materials and enters data regarding academic performance, rigor of curriculum, and other relevant items.
2. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Prior experience in admissions or college counseling.

• Skill in effective written and verbal communications.
• Ability to exercise keen judgement and discretion.
• Ability to maintain essential records, paperwork and application files in a confidential, thorough manner.
• Ability to quickly adapt to new technology and internalize feedback.
• Ability to read quickly, carefully and objectively while providing thorough notes and have keen attention to detail.
• Ability to meet admission decision deadlines.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

Work Environment:

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• Due to the remote nature of the work, a reliable internet connection, computer, and a private, secure location are required.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
