The Seasonal Assistant, External and Government Affairs role, reporting to the Programs Manager of the Atlanta Hawks Foundation, is a unique opportunity to assist the External Affairs and Government Affairs team. You will be crucial in supporting the External and Government Affairs departments, working across various areas that interact with multiple departments. You will assist in growing the Atlanta Hawks as a community asset, building bridges through basketball to communities, and providing safe access for play. Your responsibilities will include duties on game days, event days, and non-event days, gaining invaluable experience as a member of the External and Government Affairs department for the Atlanta Hawks and State Farm Arena.

What the External and Government Affairs Assistant will be responsible for:
  • Support the External and Government Affairs departments daily, with a secondary reporting line to the Hawks Foundation and Hawks Alumni Program.
  • Provide administrative tasks such as tracking appearances, data collection, and program reporting.
  • Assist with developing and implementing strategies to advance the organization's legislative initiatives.
  • Assist with Community and non-Hawks events in either an External or Government Affairs capacity.
  • Track and maintain the assets of the Hawks Foundation.
  • Occasionally accompany executives, city officials, and alumni to interviews, appearances, and or seats.
  • Game days, event days, and non-event days duties
  • Fulfill any other assigned duties.


What the External and Government Affairs Assistant needs to have:
  • Postgraduate (recent college graduates within 24 months of graduation).
  • At least one (1) year of relevant experience. Previous sports-related or government-related experience at the professional or collegiate level is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe product suites is required.
  • The ideal candidate should be organized, creative, enthusiastic, and have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and attention to detail are necessary.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects.
  • Must be able to work independently, be self-directed, and demonstrate initiative.
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills are essential.
  • Ability to handle confidential, privileged, and/or sensitive information carefully and sensitively.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and be on-call as necessary based on the changing priorities of the department.
