Secondary Paraeducator

Summary:
The Secondary Paraeducator will work full time at Oakville Middle/High School to support teachers and students in creating a positive and effective learning environment. The Paraeducator will assist with classroom management, student supervision, and instructional support.

Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers with classroom management, including behavior management and student engagement
- Provide one-on-one or small group academic support to students as directed by the teacher
- Assist with the supervision of students during lunch, recess, and other non-instructional times
- Support students with special needs, including those with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) or 504 plans
- Monitor student progress and communicate with teachers and parents as needed
- Assist with the preparation and organization of instructional materials and classroom resources
- Attend meetings and trainings as required by the school district

Requirements:
- High school diploma & passed the paraprofessional praxis exam or Associates Degree.
- Prior experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other staff members
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and obtain required certifications and clearances as required by the school district.
