The Information Technology Services department has an opening for a Security Architect. In this role you will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of the information security architecture that address the City of Phoenix's current and emerging business application and infrastructure requirements, both on premise and cloud based. Currently this position supervises a small team and reports directly to the Principal Information Security Architect.

Responsibilities include:
  • Refine, drive, and deliver major components of the City's Information Security Office (ISO) security strategy.
  • Stay abreast on new security technologies, standards, and enterprise frameworks and integrate when possible.
  • Provide and manage Information Security architecture direction to major programs in the areas of enterprise applications, cloud technologies, infrastructure, and other business operations.
  • Define current state and set future direction of cloud, infrastructure, and application security architecture landscape.
  • Design and engineer secure and resilient solutions to meet customer needs or to address critical audit findings while protecting the City's data assets.
  • Develop target state enterprise-level information security architectures.
  • Define controls, standards, and security best practices.
  • Reviews current state security architecture, identify gaps, and recommend security enhancements.
  • Helps to ensure security standards are met or are mitigated and documented appropriately.
  • Research, analyze, and propose security solution alternatives that address specific business needs while understanding the fiscal impact of those proposals.
  • Partner with the City's enterprise senior IT leaders and subject matter experts to assist with developing roadmaps for technology projects, service standards, and governance that impact the City's operations.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other architects and engineers.
  • Assist executive leadership with development of plans to acquire, train, and retain high performing technical talent in critical areas.
  • Prepare and deliver effective documentation and briefs to leadership regarding overall enterprise architecture and design.
  • Build consensus and cooperation with departments.
  • Evaluate all city procurements for security best practices.

SALARY

Pay Range: $102,668.80 to $151,694.00/annually.

Hiring Range: $102,668.80 to $137,592.00/annually.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three years of experience developing, evaluating, using, and maintaining technical system hardware and software.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, math or a related field.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
  • Five years of experience in Information Security.
  • Five years of experience in Cloud Computing and Cloud Security.
  • Five years of experience in Enterprise Architecture.
  • Five years of experience using and managing network devices and security controls including but not limited to: firewalls, IDS, IPS, VPNs, routers, switches, load balancers, proxies, wireless access points, wireless controllers, access controls, and network protocols (DNS, DHCP, HTTP, IPSEC, etc.)
  • Three years of experience in an IT leadership position.
  • Three years of experience dealing with cybersecurity threats both internal and external information security architecture.
  • Information security certifications in CISSP, CISM, CCSP or other security related certifications.
  • Vendor certifications in Microsoft Azure or other related certifications.
