Amazon Information Security is looking for an Application Security Engineer to join our Embedded Engagements team.

Our team approaches security challenges with empathy and curiosity to help service teams identify areas of improvement and guidance on how to remediate risk. Amazon Application Security focuses on enabling our builders to provide a secure and trustworthy experience to our customers without compromising the overall customer experience.

As a Security Engineer on our team, you will solve interesting security challenges that arise when Amazon invents new technologies. You will need a combination of technical and communication skills as well as a customer-focused mindset and a desire to continue to grow and learn from those around you.

We are the Embedded Engagements team, a team that is devoted to helping Amazon product teams raise their security bar through long-term consultation activities. We will generally be coupled with an organization and product team for 6 months to 1 year, though time frames are dependent on the scope of the project. The engineers on this team are excited to dive deep and learn about each product and organization to provide the most holistic security support and guidance possible, while also understanding the business needs and applying that context to risk remediation priority and recommendations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.

- Intermediate knowledge and understanding of security engineering, system and network security, authentication and security protocols, cryptography, or application security.

- Experience with any combination of the following: threat modeling experience, secure coding, identity management and authentication, software development, cryptography, system administration and network security.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- GCIH (GIAC Certified Incident Handler) or GSEC (GIAC Security Essentials) or Security+

- 2+ years of any combination of the following: threat modeling experience, secure coding, identity management and authentication, software development, cryptography, system administration and network security experience

- Experience with AWS products and services

- Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, C++

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $111,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
