We are looking for a Security Operations Engineer to join our team! Microsoft's Edge and Platform Security Fundamentals(EPSF)team is responsible for securing some of Microsoft's largest and most critical online services in Azureand Windows + Devices. As a Security Operations Engineer, you will play a crucial role in protecting these services and ensuring the security of our customers' data . We are a part of Azure Edge + Platform (E+P), a globally distributed team responsible for the platforms and services that enable consistent application development and management across the cloud and the edge.We are looking for a hunt and detection focused S ecurity O per ations E ngineer to hunt for risk across our services and throughout Microsoft while ensuring our dependencies on centralized security are functioning correctly .

T his Security Operations Engineer role is focused on hunting for risk and identifying detection opportunities throughout EPSF services and Microsoft. This role will be responsible for identifying and conducting proactive hunts, supporting incident response investigations, participating in Purple Team operations, and maintaining an overall security operational awareness of the EPSF area of responsibility. Th is roleofferstheopportunityto collaborate with teams across Edge & Platform, Windows and Devices, and Microsoft Security . Responsibilities:

  • Hunt for risk across EPSF and Microsoft by supporting incident response, proactive hunts, and Purple Team engagements.
  • Maintain operational security awareness, keying on impact to EPSF Services and ensuring leadership is aware of emerging issues .
  • Identify , communicate, and close data,process, and securitygaps inour areas of operation.
  • Work across Microsoft Security and the company to seamlessly integrate with partner teams, incorporating Azure, and E&P product offerings and providing feedback for enrichment.

Qualifications:

Required/Minimum Qualifications
  • 1+ year(s) of experience in software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, modeling, cyber security, anomaly detection, Security Operations Center (SOC) detection, threat analytics, security incident and event management (SIEM), information technology (IT), and operations incident response.
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field.
  • 1+ year experience in threat hunting and/or detection authoring
Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications
  • CISSP, CISA, CISM, SANS, GCIA, GCIH, OSCP, and/or Security+ certification.
  • Experience as a Threat Hunter and/or exposure to Security Operations focused environment.
  • Experience collaborating with offensive security teams on Purple Team and hunt engagements.
  • Demonstrated understanding of security best practices and industry standards.
  • Efficient program management,communication,and collaboration skills.
  • Experienceas a software engineerwith one or more general purpose programming languages including, but not limited to: Azure Data Explorer, C#, PowerShell, Cosmos, SQL.
  • Experience optimizing automation, reliability, and monitoring.
  • Customer focus and data driven approach.
  • Agility in fast paced environment.
Security Operations Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $81,900 - $160,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $105,600 - $174,600 per year.
