QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must attach to their application individual responses addressing each requirement separately.

Mandatory Requirements (conditions of employment) Provide the requested information, address your willingness and ability to meet the applicable condition and/or how you meet the requirement.

(1) Must be an enlisted member of the Idaho Air National Guard, 124th Security Forces Squadron, assigned to a compatible military position. Provide your military grade, job title, AFSC and unit of assignment. If willing to enlist/join, please indicate your willingness and ability to enlist. If you are enlisted in another state National Guard, indicate your willingness to complete ITS.

(2) Must have and maintain a valid and unrestricted state issued driver's license (from any state) and meet qualifications for a military/government vehicle operator's license. Provide your driver's license number, issuing state, license expiration date, and the full name specified on the license. ( Do not provide a copy of your driver's license.)

(3) Must have, or be eligible to obtain, and maintain a favorable T3 (SECRET) Federal Background Investigation. If a selected candidate does not have a current favorable T3, as a condition of employment he/she must submit to the investigation process immediately upon hire/appointment. (At a minimum, a favorable suitability determination by the State Security Manager is required prior to appointment into this position.)

(4) Must have graduated from the USAF Security Forces Academy or a Department of Defense/armed forces basic military police academic course. The Idaho POST Academy or other civilian-related police experience and training may be considered as equivalent as determined by the Commander, 124 SFS.

(5) Selectees will be required to take and pass a pre-employment screening examination prior to hiring. Such examinations may include a polygraph examination and or a physical fitness pre-screen test. Incumbents may also be required, as a condition of continued employment, to take and pass polygraph examinations. Passing a polygraph examination means obtaining a positive report of truthfulness on all relevant issues.

(6) Must become qualified and retain proficiency in the use of required weapons and equipment.

(7) Must have no prior convictions by civilian/military court except for minor traffic violations and/or similar infractions.

(8) Must have and maintain a personal telephone number.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
Applicants must have 6-months of specialized experience performing related to the duties as specified below. In your detailed, individualized responses describe your civilian and military education, training, and work experience as it relates to each KSA that demonstrated your related experience. KSA responses assist in verifying your qualifications and determining the best-qualified applicants.

Provide your individual responses in an attachment to your application addressing each requirement (1-5) separately.

(1) Knowledge of Law Enforcement procedures, training requirements and operating methods required to perform the full range of police officer activities independently.

(2) Knowledge of special operating requirements, methods, and procedures for enforcing specialized personnel access controls to prevent unauthorized access to areas where stringent security requirements are enforced.

(3) Knowledge of appropriate use of force and self-defense techniques to protect oneself and others in threatening situations including the ability to subdue and control individuals as required.

(4) Ability to operate motor vehicles that have a gross weight of 7,000 lbs. or less, loading capacities of 1 ton or less and 2- or 4-wheel drive to transport personnel and/or materials.

(5) Ability to work and communicate effectively orally and in writing.

(6) Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community management, employees and other law enforcement agencies.

INTRODUCTION: These positions are assigned to the 124th Security Forces Squadron (SFS), Idaho Air National Guard (IDANG), Gowen Field, Boise, Idaho, functioning within the State of Idaho - Military Division. The primary purpose of these positions is to carry out assigned duties concerning the security of the flight line and the protection of the resources located within the confines of the Gowen Field Installation. Incumbents are required to work varied shifts and during inclement weather.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Patrols and checks buildings, storage areas, aircraft parking areas, etc., to prevent unauthorized personnel from entering.

2. Protects buildings, equipment and aircraft from theft, sabotage, espionage or any other damage. Performs emergency security measures required to secure the combat potential of the Idaho National Guard (IDNG) against attack by small hostile forces or mobs. Manages and controls incidents, disturbances and accidents.

3. Complies with and enforces standards of conduct and adherence to all applicable laws and regulations, and complies with use of force policies.

4. Prepares clear and concise oral and written reports on incidents, accidents and violations.

5. Conducts proper vehicle traffic stops with the purpose and intent of the enforcing pertinent laws and regulations, maintains traffic management awareness and safety, and controls access to Gowen Field.

6. Works effectively with coworkers and other military and civilian personnel.

7. Uses proper radio and telephone communication procedures.

8. Assists in the development and instruction of training programs when assigned by the supervisor(s).

9. Promotes a respectful workplace that complies with policies of the Adjutant General. Observes and ensures compliance with all Whistleblower Protection Program, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), security, environmental, and workplace safety practices, policies, and regulations at all times. Maintains a safe and drug/alcohol free workplace.

10. Performs other security-related duties and projects as necessary or as assigned by the Shift Supervisor, Security Police Superintendent or, in the Superintendent's absence, the Law Enforcement Supervisor.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: Incumbents work under the direct supervision of the Security Police Shift Supervisor and are guided by the policies of the Adjutant General/Commanding General, the Group Commander, and applicable state and federal regulations, directives and policies.

PERSONAL WORK CONTACTS: Incumbents come in daily contact with supervisors and employees of the Idaho National Guard and military personnel of other branches, and have frequent contact with members of the Installation Defense Council and local law enforcement officials. When acting as Entry Controller at the Main Gate, the incumbent will be the initial contact for individuals desiring entry to Gowen Field. Incumbents must demonstrate appropriate customs and courtesies at all times.

WORK CONDITIONS/ PHYSICAL EFFORT: Performs patrol duties outdoors and in all types of weather conditions. Performs dispatcher and alarm monitor duties in an office environment that is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Work will require lifting items, such as equipment or supplies, weighing up to 75 pounds. Prolonged standing may be expected. Incumbents must maintain sufficient physical condition to pass the Air Force physical fitness test and other physical acts which may be necessary during training, emergency responses, crisis intervention or detention of suspects. Approximately 70% of work is performed outdoors. Incumbents may be exposed to dangers associated with live firing of ammunition on ranges and an arid desert environment. The incumbent must be willing to work weekends, varying shifts (days, swings, nights), and be willing to respond to emergencies when needed.
