Selective Solder Operator

Purpose:

The Machine Operator is responsible for the setup and operation of the Selective Soldering Machine to solder electronic components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs).

Nature of Duties:
  • Perform daily operation of selective soldering machine for assembly of printed circuit boards using IPC standards and assigned processes to assure quality standards and meet customer demands
  • Verify accuracy of documentation per work orders, machine programming, assign process's and customer specifications
  • Check and inspect operation against predetermined tolerances
  • Verify parts by manufacturer part number and value necessary for assembly per work orders
  • Set up parts according to program setup sheet
  • Change reels/part banks on machine during job changeovers
  • Examine samples of soldered boards to detect substandard soldering and discusses this with supervisors and Quality and adjust accordingly
  • Assist in maintenance of selective solder machines and equipment
  • Maintain and organize all selective solder machine parts
  • Fix issues that might occur during the shift
  • Keep records of approved and defective units or final products
  • Tear down machine upon job completion
  • Follow all Company Safety and ESD Program requirements
  • Report all accidents, near misses, unsafe acts and unsafe conditions
  • Properly handle and dispose all waste, including hazardous wastes that are generated in daily operations as directed by applicable SOP(s)
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Up to 1 year equivalent experience in an SMT manufacturing facility
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination is necessary
  • Must be able to work in a fast-pace environment with a sense of urgency
  • Be able to stand and walk during the 8 hour shift
  • Must be able to visually inspect small items for accuracy
  • Must be able to handle small parts
  • Must have manual dexterity
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read and follow detailed instructions to operate and monitor equipment
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Excellent punctuality, good attendance, and reliability required
  • Adherence to health and safety regulations
  • Prior Sanmina experience and systems knowledge is preferred


Physical Requirements

Required to stand for extended periods in a manufacturing environment; talk and hear in person; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
