Summary

The Office of Education Affairs at Baylor College of Medicine supports the medical student learning community by implementing programs, services and activities designed to promote academic success, professional development, and personal wellness. We are seeking a talented professional to join the Education Affairs team at our Temple, TX campus. This position will primarily work in Temple, Texas with some occasional travel to Houston, Texas.

The Senior Academic Services Associate will provide academic support and career coaching opportunities to students at the BCM Temple campus. This includes supporting the work of the central student support services areas at the BCM Temple, including but not limited to, the Academic Success Center and Career Development Center, and participation on institution-wide committees. This position is a member of the BCM Office Education Affairs team and will be expected to participate in activities in Houston and Temple.

This position will be eligible to work hybrid (3 days onsite/ 2 days off-site) within the greater Temple area after an onboarding and training period.

Job Duties

  • Provides career academic support and coaching to medical students at the BCM Temple Campus.
  • Meets with students in one-on-one meetings to address academic skillset needs.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for Academic Success Center programming; and assists in the program planning, development, facilitation, and administrative duties for the program.
  • Manages and oversees the Academic Success Center tutors at BCM Temple.
  • Manages and oversees the student lounge at BCM Temple.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for Career Development Center programming; and assist in the program planning, development, facilitation, and administrative duties for the program.
  • Meets with students in one-on-one meetings to assess student career goal needs and assists students in developing professional development plans.
  • Develops communications for BCM Temple students.
  • Functions as a liaison to other administrative areas at BCM Temple.
  • Answers student questions through email, phone calls, and in-person consultations.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Four years of relevant experience.


Position Specific Requirements

  • Must have academic coaching experience in a higher education institution.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in education (or directly-related field) and two years of relevant experience may also be considered.
  • Career coaching is a plus!
