The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

The Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Operationsprovides oversight of all external operations in the Columbia University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education. This individual will report to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education and will be responsible for the strategic direction, oversight, coordination, leadership, and active participation in the revenue generation and external functions while serving as a member of the Department's Senior Management Team.

Responsibilities
  • Providing leadership for revenue generation units; ticket operations staff and sales; athletics communications; marketing; promotions; concessions; merchandise sales; brand management; licensing; corporate partnerships and broadcast production units.
  • Oversees the Department's strategic communications efforts, including public relations, athletic communications, social media and the athletics website
  • Develop and execute a strategic marketing and business plan, engage stakeholders to identify and prioritize marketing initiatives
  • Determine appropriate budget allocations of chosen initiatives
  • Ensure a cohesive approach to brand awareness is incorporated into the development of program elements
  • A proactive approach to identify opportunities to create and put into action content/projects/stories that will positively influence and generate increased support and involvement in Columbia University Athletics
  • Direct and supervise staff to plan, create, execute, and be responsible for promotional activities, in-game assets, video board content/operations, the general in-game environment
  • Foster increased fan interaction resulting in an enhanced in-game experience.
  • Exhibit the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with regard to adherence to NCAA, Ivy League, University, and Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education's Code of Ethics
  • Contributing to the maintenance of good working relationships with all members of the Department
  • Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education

Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • Minimum of seven years related experience in intercollegiate athletic administration, or a related field.
  • The ability to manage several tasks and/or projects simultaneously, strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills and a demonstrated commitment to customer service will accompany a proven track record in building quality relationships.
