The Devices and Services Brand Studio is looking for a dynamic, multifaceted brand builder to join Amazon as a Senior Brand Strategist. A creative and incisive thinker, this individual will be responsible for crafting and driving alignment on the strategic elements of brand strategy, including brand positioning, brand architecture, creative strategy, and brand identity. This role will then steward that strategy through the creative processes - from product concept and UX considerations through marketing and engagement campaigns - collaborating across teams to build cohesive storytelling that positively shifts perceptions, influences desired customer behaviors, and grows our brands and businesses. You'll have the opportunity to refine and shape established world-class brands, including Alexa, Echo, Kindle, Fire TV, Amazon Kids, Fire tablets, as well as to define new brands, products, services, and initiatives.

The Senior Brand Strategist works closely with teammates and partners across Naming Strategy, Customer Insights, Brand Design, Creative Program Management, Marketing, Go-to-Market, Product Management, UX and Industrial Design, as well as with brand, business, and legal stakeholders in other parts of Amazon, and at times with external agencies. This individual thrives in complex and fast-paced environments and is gifted in arriving at true, distinctive, and compellingly strategies in the face of the most complicated and ambiguous business and customer challenges. The ability to craft an inspiring and well written narrative that influences teams at all levels is critical to success in this role, as is the ability to develop (in partnership with Creative) and deliver compelling presentations.

Key job responsibilities

• \tDeveloping effective brand positioning and strategic frameworks for Devices and Services sub-brands.

• \tSocializing and activating brand strategies across the Devices and Services org and beyond, to influence customer experience, product roadmaps/prioritization, marketing activation's, content creation, etc.

• \tAuthoring creative briefs that inspire and inform big ideas, from macro-level brand briefs to targeted/tactical briefs that guide marketing campaigns, PR events, and/or channel opportunities.

• \tCollaborating with creative and brand marketing teams, and at times agency partners, to ensure strategic alignment of creative executions and marketing activation's against the brand framework/briefs, at times when brand strategies are being developed on a parallel path.

• \tDesigning and leading workshops to dive deep on customer, category, cultural insights, and short- and long-term business goals with partners such as product makers, go-to-market leaders, researchers, and designers.

• \tPartnering with Insights and Brand Marketing teams to influence how we measure brand health, to design bespoke studies that inform future strategies (e.g., brand architecture), and to action research results into insights that drive innovation.

• \tDemonstrating strategic thought leadership by contributing to team communications and knowledge sharing mechanisms that disseminate brand outcomes and insights across the organization and broader Amazon brand community.

• \tCollaborating with Naming Strategists to arrive at briefs for product, service, and brand naming, acting as a stakeholder throughout the naming process.

• \tCollaborating with Brand Design and Product Design to set strategies that enable teams to evolve Devices and Services brand identities.

• \tPartnering with Brand Managers to develop and publish strategic brand guidance to the Amazon Design Portal, and to design and refine processes that capture and scale the team's best practices.

About the team

The Devices Brand Studio is the creative studio within the Devices & Services organization at Amazon. We deliver creative and design for product launches, events, and marketing campaigns.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5-10 years' experience as a brand strategist/planner within advertising agencies, brand strategy consultancies, or the equivalent role inside a brand marketing organization, where accountable for delivering for top global consumer brands.

- BA or BS in business or liberal arts, or equivalent professional experience.

- Track record of navigating complex businesses and producing breakthrough, famous brand work that drove results.

- Fluency in brand strategies with the ability to articulate your knowledge in a way that resonates with peers of technical or other non-marketing backgrounds.

- Superior narrative writing skills, with talent in developing communications frameworks and insights-driven creative briefs, and the ability to clearly articulate your multi-dimensional thinking in a white-paper format.

- Exceptional verbal communication and presentation skills, and the ability to facilitate creative work sessions with all levels of the organization.

- Proven ability to shift from thinking big to rolling up your sleeves to execute smaller tasks.

- Curiosity about Amazon devices, Alexa, and smart home technologies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience using any of SQL or other analytical tools for conducting data analysis

- Experience with customer segmentation, profiling, and targeting

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
