Insight Global is seeking 1 Senior Cash Accountant to join the Technical Accounting team for a large healthcare system based out of Linthicum, MD. The Technical Accounting Team serves as the technical experts in specific areas of accounting across the system and are the owners of all policies in these subject matters (i.e. patient revenue & receivables, medical malpractice, inventory, fringe, fixed assets & depreciation, third party advances, uncompensated care). This team is responsible for understanding their process flows from the beginning of a process until the end and for ensuring the proper accounting treatment is used along the continuum of the process. This team play a vital part of the budget process, reserve analysis, system implementations, new company setups, special projects, process improvements & standardization, and in the successful completion of any/all month end closes and audit procedures. This team is highly visible in month senior leadership. The Senior will perform the following duties:
The Senior will assist the Cash Manager with cash reconciliation oversight and the development of staff.
Collaborate with the Cash Manager to manage and mentor the Cash team
Complete bank account reconciliation for the larger, more complex bank accounts and assist staff in the completion and reconciliation of smaller accounts.
Prepare cash journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation for all hospitals
Research and clear/post unidentified deposits/withdrawals
Coordination with Internal and External Financial Reporting teams, as needed
Use the AutoRec tool to streamline the cash reconciliation process and allow for more time on investigation and analysis
Perform and/or review GL reconciliations for all cash accounts to source (EPIC) and bank accounts
Complete cash analytics and dashboards to assist UMMS Leadership in their analysis of the UMMS financial position
Participate in projects affecting cash accounts (AP and PR account consolidation, unclaimed property, opening/closing accounts, etc.)
Provide assistance as needed for annual consolidated financial audit, HSCRC Annual Filing, Decision Support annual budget, and internal audits.
Assist with the Internal Financial Reporting team's compliance with UMMS' Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) program.

Required Skills & Experience

3-5 years of experience in professional accounting or auditing work
Bachelor's Degree with a major in accounting, finance, or related field
Proficient knowledge of cash posting and reconciliations
Strong excel skills
Strong analytical, multi-tasking, and performance improvement skills
This seasons flu vaccine
