Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Veterans Services (DVS) serves Virginia's veterans and family members by ensuring they receive the benefits, support, quality care, and recognition they have

The Senior Compensation Analyst will provide professional level compensation and classification support and guidance to agency managers and employees. Manage a broad range of human
resource activities including pay determination, job analysis and classification, and compensation analysis. Develops compensation and recognition programs and lead projects designed to ensure competitive and equitable compensation practices. Works on special projects in support of agency Human Resource Department and the agency goals. The role will also collaborate with HR staff and managers on HRIS reporting, performance management, transactions. and policy interpretation.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of principles and practices of human resources; applicable state and federal employment laws (e.g., FLSA), the Commonwealth of Virginia's compensation and classification system; and compensation policies and practices. Demonstrated ability to develop and evaluate compensation strategies; analyze and
evaluate jobs, classify positions, conduct job audits, and create job documentation including job specifications, job descriptions, and Employee Work Profiles. Ability to research and analyze data using a variety of sources, interpret policies and compensation data, problem solve, counsel managers and employees in matters related to compensation and classification activities and recommend sound decisions. Requires the ability to exercise discretion and ensure a high level of confidentiality while working in a self-directed manner. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Additional Considerations

Education or training in Human Resources, Business, or related field; skill in
using state HRIS system (Cardinal HCM) or similar system. Certification in Human Resources (e.g., SHRM-CP, SCP, PHR or SPHR) or as a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)
