The Senior Compliance Officer is the "owner" and subject matter expert of regulation or business-area specific enterprise-wide compliance programs. This role performs a key function by advising on compliance processes and compliance-related issues and providing guidance, support, and advice to managers and leadership on regulatory and compliance matters while contributing to the growth and development of the business at a senior organizational and commercial level.

Job Functions:

  • Oversees the end-to-end governance and management of enterprise-wide compliance programs, including policy creation, contract compliance review, toolkit development, training administration, and regular monitoring and auditing.
  • Provides consultative oversight to enhance business program design, development, delivery, and maintenance for engaging, marketing to, acquiring, and servicing Deluxe clients and customers.
  • Delivers expert compliance guidance across business segments, shared services, and leadership on products, services, acquisitions, marketing, and operations, ensuring alignment with internal policies. Identifies vulnerabilities, devises corrective actions, and advises on risk mitigation strategies to guide management decisions effectively within established risk parameters.
  • Manages regulatory issue identification, reporting and closure of regulatory issues identified from internal risk assessments and internal or external audits. Ensures timely and accurate reporting to relevant stakeholders.
  • Conducts in-depth research into and monitors local, state, federal and international laws, statues, regulations, and compliance enforcement activities. Maintains a thorough understanding and keeps abreast of developments in industry guidelines and evolving best practices.
  • Improves existing processes and controls through gap analysis and oversees compliance remediation activities and corrective actions. Develops compliance education, training and awareness tools to address gaps and mature processes within the business.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Legal, Privacy, or related field
  • 4 years of experience in Privacy, Compliance, Legal, Data Protection, Consumer Protection, Audit, Risk Management, Information Security or related field
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance principles and direct experience with compliance program management in a matrixed, global organization
  • Experience with compliance program management functions within highly regulated markets or services including financial services, telecommunications, fintech, or payments
  • Proficient in the use and management of compliance software tools
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to compliance and risk management
  • Ability to understand complex enterprise vendor use cases and identify associated risks


Preferred Qualifications:
  • JD strongly preferred
  • Certifications: CCEP, CIPM, CCSP or CRISC
  • 6 years of experience in Law, Compliance, and Privacy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to explain and present complex information clearly and thoroughly.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail including the ability to work independently and create and manage long-term, detailed project plans for departmental and company-wide privacy initiatives.
  • Ability to exercise leadership and influence change.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results and advance privacy program maturity.
  • Knowledge of information technology and data management systems.
