Job Summary

UT Southwestern is in search of a Senior Controls Technician for their Hospital Facilities team, highly skilled and experienced in HVAC DDC Controls and Building Automation Systems, otherwise known as an Engineering Technician III (ET III) . The senior technician diagnoses, repairs, calibrates, and adjust electronic and pneumatic HVAC controls using tools of trade to ensure required temperatures, humidity and pressures are maintained at the CUH and Zale University Hospitals. This involves responding to HVAC problem calls in critical spaces such as Operating Rooms, Patient Rooms, Pharmacy, Central Sterile, Nutrition Services, and other critical spaces found in the hospital setting.

Work Location: Dallas Campus, assist other UTSW buildings as necessary.

Minimum Experience and Education Requirements
  • Requires High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Prefer an associate degree in air conditioning and refrigeration or electronic technology field, or vocational school with completion of manufacturer's service course in repair and maintenance of temperature controls.
  • Requires six (6) years of work experience in HVAC DDC controls and related HVAC systems, including two (2) years as an engineering tech II or equivalent.

Job Duties
  • Diagnoses, repairs, calibrates, and adjusts electric, electronic, and pneumatic HVAC controls using tools of trade to ensure required temperatures and humidity to all campus buildings.
  • Knowledge of advanced programming in the Siemens Automation system to include complex lab controls, variable frequency drives, and integrated building HVAC systems.
  • Performs database management of HVAC field panels and controllers.
  • Installs DDC controls, programming, and graphics for renovations, upgrades, or system enhancement projects.
  • Troubleshoots programming of building HVAC systems.
  • Skilled in programming, commissioning, and graphic design.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions
