Job Description

As a Senior Data Scientist in AbbVie Business Technology Solutions (BTS), you'll have opportunities to contribute to the digital transformation of a leading biopharma company, helping to create solutions that impact patients and their communities for the better.

Work collaboratively with technology and business groups to conceive, design and implement business technology solutions that solve significant scientific or business problems through the integration, visualization, and analysis of large and complex data. Investigate, identify, develop, and optimize methods, algorithms, and technologies to derive novel, competitive insights from disparate data sources or drive productivity and efficiency gains throughout multiple business areas. Contribute to advancement of technology in area of expertise. Develop productive collaborations and communications with other groups across multiple disciplines.

In this role, you'll be responsible for:
  • Conceive, design and implement business technology solutions that solve significant scientific or business problems through the integration, visualization, and analysis of large and complex data. Routinely demonstrate initiative and creativity in developing technology solutions.
  • Demonstrate high proficiency across a wide range of technologies related to the storage, transfer, integration, visualization, and analysis of large and complex data sets. Expertise in software development, data warehousing, statistics, and machine learning.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of the pharmaceutical and healthcare business, and utilize this knowledge in the rapid advancement of agile, impactful, and cost-effective solutions along with execution strategies to help drive Data Maturity across the QA Business
  • Works with stakeholders and technical team to deliver high quality solutions. Understanding organization's vision, goals, and strategies. Aligns department priorities appropriately, determines critical success factors, evaluates, and pursues initiatives based on fit with strategies.
  • Onboarding, consolidating, cleansing, and structuring data for efficient use in reports and analytical applications. Data processing & QC checks across multiple layers of data warehouses, combination of multiple internal and external data sets.
  • Highly autonomous and productive in performing activities, requiring only minimal direction from or interaction with supervisor.
  • May initiate new areas of investigation that are meaningful, reliable, and can be incorporated directly into a scientific or business activity.
  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies, including code of conduct, safety, GxP compliance, and data security.


Qualifications

What makes you a strong candidate for this role:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 6 years' experience; Master's Degree with 5 years' experience; PhD with 0 years' experience.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence and Data Science tools such as QlikView, Qlik Sense, Power BI, Tableau, Spotfire, Statistica, DataIku with Data Science concepts (Predictive, Prescriptive) and tools through education or experience concepts and have interest in expanding skillset is a plus.
  • Ability to function effectively in an environment with multiple and fluctuating priorities working with cross functional teams, third party service providers and vendors. Proven implementation of implementing creative technology solutions that advanced the business.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and familiar with Software Lifecycle (SLC) and required documentation practices.
  • Excellent analytical, data discovery and problem-solving skills.
