Summary:
Implements and maintains databases with respect to access methods, access time, device allocation validation checks, organization, growth, protection and security, documentation, and statistical analysis. Maintains database dictionaries, monitors standards and procedures, and integrates application systems. Writes and validates queries and programs as required.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and monitor SQL Server databases to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security.
  • Implement and maintain database backup and recovery strategies to minimize data loss and downtime.
  • Perform regular database maintenance tasks, such as index rebuilding, query optimization, and database tuning.
  • Proactively identify and resolve database performance issues and bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective use of database resources.
  • Develop and implement database security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data.
  • Monitor and analyze database performance metrics and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Plan and execute database migration and upgrade projects.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related problems in a timely manner.
  • Document database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Work in a 24/7 environment that requires on call rotation.
  • Required Skills/Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • 6 years of proven experience in managing large-scale SQL Server databases in a production environment.
  • Understanding of relational database management systems and their principles.
  • In-depth knowledge of SQL Server database administration, including database design, installation, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with industry best practices and emerging trends in SQL Server database administration.
  • Experience with High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) (Log Shipping, Clustering, or Always On / Availability Groups).
  • Experience with Reporting and ETL tools such as SSRS and SSIS.
  • Proficiency in writing T-SQL complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions.
  • Experience with database performance tuning and optimization techniques.
  • Knowledge of database security best practices and the ability to implement and enforce security measures.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Team Player

Preferred Skills/Qualifications

  • Certification in SQL Server administration (e.g., MCSA: SQL Server or MCSE: Data Management and Analytics) .
  • Experience with Scripting language (PowerShell) to Automate DBA tasks.
  • Experience with Migration , Deploying and monitoring in Azure / AWS Environment.
