Senior Design Researcher, People Experience and Technology Central Science

The Central Science Team within Amazon's People Experience and Technology org (PXTCS) uses economics, behavioral science, statistics, and machine learning to proactively identify mechanisms and process improvements which simultaneously improve Amazon and the lives, well-being, and the value of work to Amazonians. We are an interdisciplinary team, which combines the talents of science, research, human-centered design and engineering to develop and deliver solutions that measurably achieve this goal.
Our team is looking for a Senior Design Researcher with expertise in inclusive/responsible research and design. You will partner closely with teams across Amazon to help shape and execute strategy, and to identify opportunities for design. You will source actionable insights that help guide decisions as we create engaging, beautiful, and customer-focused experiences for our Amazon employees.

Key job responsibilities
- Define the long-term vision, strategy, and goals for design research
- Define and execute a comprehensive research roadmap, using the best mix of quantitative and qualitative methods.
- Deliver effective research insights to support PxT executives in strategic decision making.
- Partner with UX Designers, Design Strategists and Scientists, to deliver meaningful insights that drive design direction.
- Create repeatable and scalable mechanisms to evaluate solutions from a holistic customer perspective.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years proven success leading UX and Design research projects with demonstrated impact.
- Portfolio demonstrating past work experience and deliverables (e.g., study plans, reports, personas).
- 5+ years of experience managing all stages of research design (study design, test creation, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting).
- 5+ years of experience with research methods including: field research, co-creation, participatory research, usability, focus groups, survey design, and data analysis including statistical measures.
- BS in Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Human Computer Design Engineering or related discipline.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- MS or Ph.D. in Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Human Computer Design Engineering or related discipline.
- Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills; the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.
- An unfailing passion and capacity to advocate on behalf of our users.
- Experience working in a highly agile/scrum environment.
- The ability to manage ambiguity, work autonomously, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $137,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $226,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
