The Senior Director of Behavioral Health Services plans, directs, manages, and coordinates activities for the Behavioral Health Service including the integration of behavioral health services through the acute care and outpatient medical/surgical areas at MWHC. Primarily, the Senior Director serves as the Behavioral Health Service Executive reporting directly to the Vice President of Professional Services and indirectly to the Administrative Director for Behavioral Health, MedStar Health. This position works closely and collaboratively with senior management, the clinical chair, nursing management, and others to advance the strategic and operational interests of MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Responsible for fiscal and operational performance, directly and through subordinate administrative personnel. Serves as the business/financial officer, and oversees fiscal, practice, research, education and general administrative operations and staff. Serves as the Relationship Manager for the behavioral healthcare management company contract.
Education\rMaster's degree In Business Administration; Healthcare Administration; or Behavioral Health related field required\rDoctoral degree in Clinical Psychology preferredExperience\r5-7 years healthcare management experience with hospital-based services encompassing progressively responsible administrative experience. required\rManagement experience in hospital based Behavioral Health preferred\rBehavioral Health hospital based regulatory and revenue cycle experience preferred\rExperience in contract management including data and financial data entry and budget management. preferredLicenses and Certifications\rLicensed Psychologist preferred or\rLICSW - Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker preferred or\rLPC-Licensed Professional Counselor preferredPlans, organizes, and directs the programs and operations of the departments and programs of psychiatry. Ensures that program objectives are congruent with overall hospital and MedStar strategic and operational goals. Establishes operational priorities and activities to facilitate and support program success.\rResponsible for fiscal planning, results, and control. Determines and submits revenue, staffing, operating, and capital budgets and ensures that fiscal target are realized. Formulates and justifies all budget requests and monitors compliance. Analyzes and reports on variances and collaborates with subordinate administrative personnel to develop corrective action plans for unfavorable variances.\rDirects preparation of administrative policies and procedures for areas of responsibility. Ensures conformance with applicable requirements of government and regulatory agencies.\rResponsible for management of the Signet Healthcare contract for MWHC psychiatric services. This includes budgets, revenue cycle, clinical and operational oversight. Manages Signet Healthcare invoices for services rendered. Supervises Signet managerial and administrative staff and meets at least monthly with the Signet Contract Relationship Manager.\rAssists the Service Line Chair with screening and interviewing prospective physician/advanced practice provider hires. Works with the Chair to ensure that physician coverage is adequate for all services in the department.Facilitates coordination of physician/advanced practice provider initiatives. Reviews physician productivity and quality metrics with the physician team. Works with MedStar Medical Group to monitor physician productivity and address challenges identified.\rInterviews, hires, evaluates the performance of MedStar associates, and when necessary, disciplines and discharges subordinate management personnel. *\rCoordinates strategic planning and new program development in in collaboration with leadership from strategic service lines, such as, for integrated program opportunities within burn, advanced heart failure, cancer, bariatrics, women, and infant services, medicine, and neurosciences. Participates in hospital-wide and system-wide strategic planning initiatives.\rWorks collaboratively with others to ensure regulatory compliance and to organize, initiate, and coordinate continuous quality improvement activities within areas of responsibility.\rParticipates in MedStar Behavioral Health Meetings and MedStar Washington Hospital Center meetings to represent the Behavioral Health ServiceReviews and administratively approves all research proposals for areas of responsibility. Coordinates project budgets and expenditures as necessary with MedStar Health.
