THE ROLE Utilizing initiative and independent judgment closely with the COO in planning, directing and managing the day-to-day operations of the distribution center working to meet established KPIs, SLAs, and operational goals. The Director of Operations has accountability for driving all distribution center and warehouse operational staff planning, performance, continuous improvement, safety, and training/development. This role has responsibility for strategy and execution in areas of performance, inventory control, cost management, talent development and customer service standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Compile and prepare information or data in a timely manner as needed by management.
  • Possess a willingness to accept other duties as assigned by management.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the various team Leaders each of whom have direct responsibility for the daily production of reports and segments of operation.
  • Collaborate with teams to problem-solve operational issues such as order fulfillment, system configuration issues, training issues, workflow, etc.
  • Develop a deep understanding of systems, system integrations, data flows and processes that support fulfillment and operations.
  • Formulate strategy that improves performance including an understanding of how technology plays a key role in process improvement.
  • Identify strategic opportunities to reduce operations costs and optimize operational processes and lead functional teams/vendors to execute approved opportunities.
  • Work with leadership to develop and implement operational management systems, processes, and best practices to include the creation and ongoing management of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) used in evaluating team members, operations, and system performance.
  • Support direct-report managers in effective staffing of team members to align with facility peak times/seasons.
  • Maintain efficient centralized warehousing operation by establishing control procedures for cataloging, inventory control, bulk storage and distribution of materials, equipment and supplies and assist in maintaining this supply system.
  • Supervise, as necessary, clerical data entry staff involved in transmitting all warehousing documentation.
  • Oversee and control all products that enter and leave the warehouse and responsible for accuracy of transfers.
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual fiscal budget and business plan for the upcoming season.
  • Comply with established company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5-10 years' management experience in the retail distribution operations and logistics.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Strong commitment to delivering a high level of customer and client service with demonstrated initiative, leadership, and management skills.
  • Customer service oriented with the ability to interact with all levels of management.
  • Must be flexible to work extend hours due to business requirements including late nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Location: On Site Works in a distribution center environment. The Distribution Center environment is not climate controlled. Will be exposed to dust, odors, and noise.
