Job Summary
Responsible for taking part in establishing and implementing organization policies and procedures in regards to local, state, and federal health and safety regulations. Ensure compliance with regulations and procedures by carrying out and analyzing regular facility audits. Provide information and training in emergency response procedures, hazardous material handling, and industrial hygiene policies. Manage the collection, storage, transportation, and shipping of hazardous waste.

Job Summary
Responsible for taking part in establishing and implementing organization policies and procedures in regards to local, state, and federal health and safety regulations. Manage the collection, storage, transportation, and shipping of hazardous waste.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
- Serves as resource and subject matter expert for internal and external customers in matters of environmental health, safety and DOT concerns.
- Actively supports business in all operational, greenfield growth and acquisitive growth including due diligence and integration-related activities.
- Develops sustainable processes to determine the effectiveness of the EHS programs and training materials; drives cost out measures and ensures compliance.
- Plans, promotes, organizes, directs and audits EHS related activities and operations to ensure consistent execution of policies and procedures.
- Serves as subject matter expert on all Hazard Materials Compliance issues.
- May monitor and mentor EHS specialists.
Nature and Scope
- Identifies key barriers/core problems and applies problem solving skills in order to deal creatively with complex situations. Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems. Makes decisions under conditions of uncertainty, sometimes with incomplete information, that produce effective end results.
- Independently performs assignments with instruction limited to the results expected. Determines and develops an approach to solutions. Receives technical guidance only on unusual or complex problems or issues.
- May oversee the completion of projects and assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, evaluating results, etc. Contributes to employees' professional development but does not have hiring or firing authority.
Work Environment
- Usually in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort from such things as dust, fumes, or odors.
- Typically requires overnight travel 20% to 50% of the time.
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age or older
- Must pass pre-employment assessment(s) if applicable
Education and Experience
- Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 5-8 years of experience in a related field; certification is required in some areas OR MS/MA and generally 3-5 years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of current OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations including HAZWOPER, HazWaste and HazCom training.
- Knowledge of DOT hazardous materials regulations for compliant handling, storage, packing, marking/labeling and shipping of hazardous materials.
- Knowledge of EPA RCRA regulations.
- Provide support to regional branches.
- Ability to develop, implement, and enforce internal EHS programs and protocols.
- Skill in developing safety procedures and protocols.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and procedures by carrying out and analyzing regular facility audits.
- Provide information and training in emergency response procedures, hazardous material handling, and industrial hygiene policies.
- Serves as resource and subject matter expert for internal and external customers in matters of EHS and DOT concerns (including hazardous materials compliance issues and concerns).
