Facilities Maintenance Senior Manager - On behalf of our client that is a global company specializing in the design, development, and manufacturing of advanced drug delivery systems, primarily auto-injectors, pen injectors, and inhalers, Procom is looking for a Facilities Maintenance Senior Manager for a direct hire/full-time onsite position in Charleston, South Carolina.

The Facilities Maintenance Senior Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operation of all facility equipment. This role provides leadership for facilities projects, planned and reactive maintenance, and the continuous improvement of facility systems. The position ensures the efficient and safe functioning of building systems and coordinates closely with multiple stakeholders to meet company needs.

Main Responsibilities
The primary duties of the role include managing the maintenance staff, ensuring the smooth operation of all facility equipment, and implementing programs to reduce equipment downtime. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Oversee day-to-day activities of the facilities maintenance team, managing scheduling and assignment of tasks related to facility inspections, building and electrical construction/maintenance, HVAC, compressed air, chillers, boilers, Building Management Systems (BMS), and Environmental Monitoring Systems (EMS).
  • Plan, construct, and maintain facility equipment and spaces in line with company growth.
  • Develop and manage facilities budgets and plans.
  • Ensure all building operations comply with local zoning laws and regulations.
  • Ensure the efficient, reliable, and safe operation of building systems, including mechanical, electrical, fire/life safety, plumbing, and waste management.
  • Use computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to manage workflow and track facility performance.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors to meet maintenance needs and support ongoing projects.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve safety, productivity, and cost-efficiency.
  • Lead projects involving contractors and vendors, ensuring project goals are met.
  • Build and manage a strong maintenance team, tracking and measuring team performance, and providing support for problem-solving.
  • Develop and implement maintenance programs to minimize breakdowns, and perform failure analysis to prevent recurrence of issues.
  • Ensure facility equipment maintenance programs align with predictive maintenance principles.
  • Monitor and assess equipment performance, addressing any issues that may impact production and implementing preventative measures.
  • Ensure all infrastructure costs are managed within budget, using value engineering principles (VEMP).
  • Create a safe working environment by enforcing health and safety regulations and company protocols.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Experience or training in Lean 6S, Six Sigma, cost reduction strategies, OEE improvements, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven ability to build and manage a strong Facilities Maintenance team.
  • Experience in highly regulated environments such as ISO13485 or FDA-regulated industries.
  • Experience managing facilities with injection molding, automated production, and intralogistics systems (ASRS, AGV) is strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, capable of resolving complex maintenance issues.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience managing all aspects of capital projects, from feasibility through commissioning and handover.
  • Working knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) and Environmental Monitoring Systems (EMS).
