Job Summary

UTSW is seeking an excellent Senior Financial Analyst with exceptional communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills to be used for the Office of the Provost. This important role will lend critical support to our leadership team by providing analysis related to the financial modeling of clinical department incentive plans as well as the tracking of total professional effort across the institution. You will also assist in the preparation of department/institutional budgets through the faculty salary planning process and generate reports for all Academic Affiliation Agreements with partner institutions. The Office of the Provost is a central administrative office overseeing all clinical and basic science departments and centers across the institution, providing exciting growth and development opportunities for our staff. As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will have the opportunity to enhance your leadership skills by mentoring and training. Our ideal candidate is proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule and requires the ability to work on campus 2 days per week.

Experience and Education

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or other related field and four (4) years progressively responsible experience in finance and/or accounting with experience in planning, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Preferred Requirements
  • Master's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or healthcare administration preferred.
  • Experience in academic medical center finance/operations preferred.
Specific Job Duties
  • Conducts financial analysis of clinical department incentive plans and verifies accuracy of all incentive amounts prior to payout.
  • Collaborates with clinical departments to review total professional effort allocations, clinical shift assignments, and actual clinical productivity data to ensure accuracy of clinical productivity expectations.
  • Assists Office of the Provost leadership with faculty salary planning processes.
  • Prepares all financial reports for submission to affiliate institutions.
Additional Job Duties
  • Completes variety of complex monthly financial management reports and reviews all reports for errors and inconsistencies; analyzes variations in forecasts and actual performance; determines reasons for variance; develops recommendations for improvement; completes written summaries of financial data.
  • Prepares and/or supervises preparation of monthly financial reports, schedules for annual financial reports, and reports to various government agencies, ensuring conformance of such reports with applicable procedures and regulations of University of Texas System and Federal and State agencies.
  • Identifies areas of poor performance, presents findings, and makes recommendations to upper management.
  • Prepares financial models and conducts financial analyses.
  • May maintain controls for policies and procedures for financial system; develops and maintains delegation of authority of various procedures, such as check requests, refunds, invoice approval, bad debt write-offs, etc.
  • Completes more complex special projects as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
