Position Overview

The Senior Financial Data Specialist focuses on utilizing systems to enhance reporting and insights for management with focus on business intelligence tools, documents process flows, interacts with all members of the company, builds reporting dashboards, works closely with IT to leverage capabilities, and provides valuable insights driving business performance and strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain business intelligence reports and dashboards tailored to financial metrics and KPIs
  • Collaborate with finance teams to gather requirements, understand data needs, and provide insights to support financial planning and analysis
  • Design and create data models to efficiently retrieve and analyze large sets of financial data
  • Provide training and support to finance team members on use of business intelligence tools and reports
  • Conduct data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for finance process improvement
  • Understand key systems, how they are used, and attributes to ensure data integrity and accuracy


Requirements

Education and Experience

Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent related work experience
  • 5+ years experience with finance, accounting, and/or process improvement
  • Experience as a Power BI developer or similar role
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, accounting practices, and financial statement analysis
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills

Skills and Abilities

Required:
  • Advanced Excel Proficiency
  • Advanced knowledge of DAX, power query, and data visualization techniques
  • Other knowledge of systems such as Alteryx, SQL, Database management, Tableau
  • Advanced skills in managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, including the ability to delegate key areas of responsibility.
  • Advanced persuasion skills when working with internal and external partners to resolve issues/problems.
  • Advanced oral and written communication and facilitation skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received by internal and external contacts.
  • Advanced ability to investigate, analyze and solve complex problems/issues
  • Advanced ability to analyze and improve business processes
  • Advanced ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines.
  • Advanced ability to work well within a team and foster teamwork environment.
  • Ability to travel globally up to 25% of the time (if outside St. Louis area)

The general pay range for this position is $74,000-$105,000 per year. Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles, and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
