Department Summary

The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) at HSC is dedicated to supporting the research of our faculty, staff, and students. Our office provides comprehensive services across the lifecycle of sponsored projects. We are committed to ensuring compliance with institutional and sponsor requirements, fostering collaborative research partnerships, and promoting the responsible stewardship of external funding.

As a crucial component of UNT's research infrastructure, OSP strives to enhance the impact and visibility of our institution's research portfolio, contributing to the advancement of knowledge and innovation. Our team of experienced professionals works collaboratively with academic departments, administrative units, and external sponsors to facilitate a seamless and efficient grants and contracts process, supporting our research community.

Position Overview

Grants and Contracts Manager will be a joint appointment between the AIM-AHEAD Central Hub Office and the Office of Sponsored Programs at the UNTHSC. They will be responsible for all post-award responsibilities on behalf of the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) for the AIM-AHEAD office. They are responsible for reviewing the sponsor requirements and ensuring federal, state, and institutional compliance concerning expenditures and milestone deliverables. They will track and review sub-awardee invoices for compliance with sponsor guidelines, monitor purchase orders, and process timely payments.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and five (5) years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Up to date knowledge of applicable law, and federal and state grant guidelines, including but not limited to FARS, DFARS, 2 CFR 200, and Uniform Grant Management Standards;
  • Clearly and candidly expresses self in a professional manner;
  • Actively listens and seeks input to ensure understanding.
  • Adapts communication to be appropriate to other's level of understanding.
  • Ability to actively and skillfully conceptualize, analyze, and evaluate information to reach a conclusion and make a decision.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5-year experience with NIH grants.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish).

Job Duties:
  • Initiate ProjID award setup in EIS System/PeopleSoft upon receipt of Notice of GrantAwards.
  • Ensure that proposals meet sponsor requirements, regulatory compliance requirements, and University, Federal, and State policies and regulations governing sponsored research and are submitted to sponsors correctly and according to appropriate deadlines.
  • Review and approve expenditures, including, but not limited to, ePro requisitions for purchases, Pcard transactions, and travel reimbursements. Also, approve ePARs for payroll allocation requests on sponsored research projects.
  • Respond to internal and external customer inquiries regarding award management to include budget concerns, account status, carry forward requests, and subsequent years of funding.
  • Serves as the primary liaison with external sponsors for all sponsored project-related communication and scope of work, interprets and applies sponsor terms and conditions and applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, policies, and items requiring prior sponsor approval via email, phone calls, or sponsor electronic websites for requests submissions.
  • Provide training as needed to PIs/Department Research Administrators.
  • Ensure sub-recipient monitoring compliance concerns are managed appropriately.
