General Summary

The Sr. Indirect Tax Accountant (ITA) is responsible for the review and preparation of indirect taxes including SALT in 34 states and foreign VAT/GST/HST in 25 countries. Provides guidance and feedback to Indirect Team. Strong support to upper management.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:
  • Accumulate, analyze, and process Indirect tax filings covering USA and international multi-jurisdictions, complex tax returns compiling financials and support documents with filings
  • Monitoring up to date indirect regulatory changes
  • Recommend relevant streamlining of procedures
  • Review, train, and support Staff tax accountants in indirect tax matters; multi-jurisdictions (North America, Canada, EMEA, Oceania & APAC).
  • Ensure indirect tax returns and payments are timely filed/paid for all the domestic and foreign jurisdictions that the company operates. - SALT, VAT, GST, HST, SST, EC Sales, Interstat
  • Tax calendar upkeep.
  • Professional timely communication with third and internal parties
  • Responsible for Indirect Tax Notices analysis and compliance
  • Facilitate and Support to Indirect Tax Audits
  • Research tax guidance to support international and domestic tax queries.
  • Reconcile the relevant tax GL accounts.
  • Prepare and Record journal entries for assigned functions
  • Assisting with implementation of new tax policies, strategies and procedures and other cross-functional initiatives as appropriate.
  • Review and calculate Tax cash estimates.
  • Facilitate and Support with Special Projects as appropriate.
  • Document New policies and procedures
  • Update Training Guidance


Job Requirements

Education and work experience:
  • Four-year degree in accounting or tax.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • GPA 3.5 or higher
  • Indirect tax reporting experience with a company that operates in multi-jurisdictions (North America, Canada, EMEA, Oceania & Asia Pacific preferred).
  • At least 6-7 years of relevant tax experience.


Skills and knowledge:
  • Knowledge of indirect tax systems (Sales/Use//VAT/GST).
  • Mandatory strong accounting skills
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to attention to detail
  • Detail oriented professional with strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong mentoring ability, Strong team player
  • Self-Motivated; able to work independently; adapt to change.
  • Quick to pick up new compliance
  • Strong tax research skills and technical savvy
  • Ability to facilitate, execute and improve work processes.
  • Advance Microsoft Excel a must.
  • Knowledge of Navision a plus
