Primary Responsibilities

HDR is looking for a senior integrated water resources planner or engineer to join our Water Resources team in Sacramento, CA. Candidates for the position should have leadership and technical experience on integrated planning related to water supply and/or flood management infrastructure projects. Our clients include local, state, and federal agencies.

Our team is growing and has a range of challenging and innovating projects. We work within multi-disciplinary teams on projects related to flood management, water supply, providing hydraulic, power modeling, including hydrology development and analysis; power optimization; climate change modeling; cost benefit analysis and statistical analysis. The preferred candidate would have experience in a combination of these subject areas.

The candidate is expected to be a key part of project delivery teams; mentor junior staff; manage medium-sized projects within large-scale programs; and effectively interact with clients and peers. Candidates should be able to work independently, but also enjoy working in a collaborative team environment. The candidate must have strong written and verbal skills.

In the role of Senior Integrated Water Resources Planner/Engineer, we'll count on you to:

  • Plan and direct medium- to large-size planning and environmental compliance projects
  • Prepare, plan and analyze compliance documents
  • Direct work of others in completion of required studies, documents and reports
  • Demonstrate extensive public participation, agency coordination, planning and programming experience
  • Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or closely related field
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in water resources planning, water resources engineering, or related field
  • Leadership skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience working directly with client leadership
  • Experience with public speaking
  • May require the ability to travel
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
  • Located in Pacific Standard Time zone preferred, but not required.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Urban Planning or related field
  • Experience with water infrastructure planning studies, extreme hydrology, and/or consequence analysis
  • Experience with risk-based planning and risk informed decision making.
  • Familiarity with integration of resiliency into the planning process

The expected compensation range for this position is $100,716.00 - $163,500.00 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
