Position Overview

We are looking for a Senior Level Designer to join our growing team and help craft Echtra's next AAA PC and Console ARPG. As a Senior Level Designer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the immersive worlds of our games. From prototyping innovative level designs to seeing them through to full implementation, you'll be at the heart of crafting captivating gameplay experiences. Your expertise ensures every level is visually stunning, as well as rich with strategic depth and mechanical intrigue, while melding and elevating artistic and design intent.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
  • Conceptualize and prototype the layout of 3D game environments that define the flow of player movement and pace of combat.
  • Craft levels to create visually appealing and intriguing spaces to move through, which pay off narrative and gameplay.
  • Implement game content such as event triggers, combat encounters, and objects to efficiently leverage the gameplay space.
  • Follow level design standards for great gameplay for a 3rd person action game.
  • Work in Unreal as well as with in-house custom tools to implement levels.
  • Work closely with Design, Narrative, and Art teams to create experiences that support the gameplay and aesthetic needs of the project.
  • Collaborate with Directors and Leads to establish a high-level creative vision and bring it to life.
Desired Skills and Experience
  • 5+ years of industry experience in a Level Design role.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience building 3rd person action games.
  • Experience working with Unreal Engine.
  • Self-motivated, excellent communication skills, and a great team-player attitude.
  • Strong understanding of how to design and compartmentalize levels that have digestible composition and flow.
Pluses
  • Experience with and passion for ARPG and looter shooter style games.
  • Experience with UE 5 and blueprints.

T he pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $91,100 and $134,000 per year.

However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
