THE OPPORTUNITY
As the Senior Manager, Agile Portfolio Delivery, you will play a crucial role in leading and managing a team of Agile Delivery Managers (ADM) to lead high-level planning and ensure effective delivery within Chipotle's Customer and Technology organization by employing and fostering Agile methodologies. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that our ADMs are equipped with the necessary tools, knowledge, and guidance to effectively facilitate and drive our roadmap plannings, initiative delivery, and pipeline management processes. This role requires a deep understanding of Agile values, principles and frameworks, Portfolio and Program planning and execution knowledge, excellent leadership and communication skills, and the ability to influence and motivate department leadership and teams to deliver high-quality value. The Senior Manager, Agile Portfolio Delivery will significantly impact Chipotle by improving Agile efficiency and employee and customer satisfaction by ensuring a culture of relentless improvement, on-time delivery and to the highest quality standards using Agile Methodologies.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead and manage a team of Agile Delivery Managers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure their success.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Foster a community culture that values relentless improvement, collaboration, and accountability within the Agile Delivery Manager team.
  • Define and drive the six- and three-month planning standards that will align the Customer and Technology roadmaps and plans.
  • Agile Process Implementation: Collaborate with cross-functional department leaders and stakeholders to establish and refine Agile methodologies and frameworks that support roadmaps, high-level planning, and pipeline management that best fit the needs of the department and teams, while identifying and addressing process bottlenecks and impediments to improve department productivity and delivery.
  • Agile Process Implementation: Ensure Agile Delivery Managers effectively facilitate high-level planning, including half-year and quarterly planning, initiative release planning, department feature pipeline management, feature discovery, and department-level Agile improvement groups.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with Functional Managers, Product Management, Scrum Masters, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective delivery of business value.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate and report on the progress, risks, and dependencies of major initiatives to senior leadership and stakeholders, collaborating with IT Program Managers when available.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a bridge between the Agile Delivery Managers and leadership, advocating for Agile best practices and driving sustainable and effective organizational change.
  • Regularly monitor and communicate on delivery teams' health and Agile maturity via qualitative and quantitative measures in collaboration with the Agile Delivery Office.
  • Relentless Improvement: Drive the adoption of Agile best practices, tools, and techniques within the organization. Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance department productivity, efficiency, and quality. Encourage a culture of learning, collaboration, empowerment, and innovation.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TABLE
  • Proven experience (8+ years) as a Manager of Agile Delivery Managers or similar role, preferably in the software development or technology industry.
  • Achieve outcomes through fostering robust collaborative partnerships with departmental leaders and teams while driving best practices and delivery.
  • Excel in an agile, dynamic, and rapidly evolving work setting with minimal formal structure.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities, with a proactive and results-oriented approach.
  • Strong understanding of software development practices and Agile management values and principles. In-depth knowledge of Agile methodologies, frameworks, and tools (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, JIRA, Confluence).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences ranging from leadership to teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) preferred.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully delivering complex software projects on time and within budget.
  • Agile, Coaching, and Product Management certifications are a plus (e.g., Agile Certified Practitioner, SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE), SAFe Practice Consultant (SPC), etc.).

PAY TRANSPARENCY
A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range for this position is $145,000 - $195,000. You are also eligible for annual cash bonuses and equity awards based upon performance and other factors. Actual compensation offered may vary depending on skill level, experience, and/or education.
