Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for a Senior Manager Analytical Development, R&D Operations, in the Johnson & Johnson Vision Group located in Jacksonville, FL.

The Senior Manager plays a vital role in advancing the field of analytical chemistry in the analysis of raw materials, intermediates, and finished contact lens, intra ocular lens (IOL) medical products. They are responsible for providing strategic project direction and leading a team of technical staff. A strong background in experimental design and statistical methodology is crucial in driving project success and optimally communicating findings. This position offers the opportunity to work with a highly skilled team and collaborate with various departments to establish effective approaches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle the performance and review of senior technical staff, providing training and developmental opportunities.
  • Coordinate the workflow of projects and samples through the lab and provide mentorship in the resolution of routine and non-routine problems or areas of concern within the group.
  • Act as a liaison with other departments and management by presenting pertinent information, such as sample status, requirements, or concerns.
  • Establish goals and communicate changes in policies and procedures, assuring compliance to regulatory requirements.
  • Continuously evaluate new technology that will improve laboratory efficiency and throughput.
  • Assure that method development, validations and transfers meet internal and ISO, ICH, USP requirements.
  • Apply statistical methods of analysis and experimental design to method development activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.


Qualifications

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree, or equivalent, in relevant technical field - Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Material Science or closely related field.


Required:

  • 10-12 years of relevant R&D experience with BS or 8+ years of relevant R&D experience with MS or 6+ years of relevant R&D experience with PhD.
  • Experience in a regulated medical device or pharmaceutical environment.
  • Experience leading a chromatography method development group
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis and design of experiments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:

  • Experience with characterization of polymers and polymeric materials.
  • Confirmed leadership skills, including motivating, negotiating, and providing direction in a team environment.
  • Proven track record of completed projects and/or launching products.
  • Ability to marshal resources to meet project objectives.
