Job Summary:

The Regional Manager of Labor/Employee Relations will work closely with the North American Interiors Management team and HR peers to develop and execute HR strategies that align with the business objectives. He/she will be responsible to promote effective working relationships within the organization and ensure the company's values, business principles, andbehaviors are embedded into HR policies and procedures. The Regional Manager of Labor/Employee Relations will be adept at providing cost-effective HR services to the business.

The Regional Manager of Labor/Employee Relations will work closely with the North American Interiors Management team and HR peers to develop and execute HR strategies that align with the business objectives. He/she will be responsible to promote effective working relationships withinthe organization and ensure the company's values, business principles, and behaviors are embedded into HR policies and procedures. The Regional Manager of Labor/Employee Relations will be adept at providing cost-effective HR services to the business.

Responsibilities
  • Develop innovative and progressive labor relations and employment policies/practices to strengthen employee engagement.
  • Provide day-to-day advice and counsel to Plant Managers and Plant Human Resource Managers, and business leaders on labor/employees relation's matters to include contract interpretation, grievance resolution and other related matters.
  • Implement positive employee relations programs in union free plants and provide local management counsel on maintaininga union-free status.
  • Represent management in grievance cases, and develop, implements andmaintain an effective standardized grievance and disciplinary processes consistent with applicable laws and the CBA.
  • Assist in the preparation of cases for labor arbitrations, and review arbitration cases, including analysis and counseling, and coordinate with outside counsel the preparation of briefs.
  • Represent the company at mediations, and in some instances arbitrations.
  • Serve as chief spokesperson for local operating units in contract negotiations with local unions. Investigate union contract proposals to determine feasibility, cost, effects on operations andrelationship to prevailing trends in the industry and the geographic area. Propose new contract language, drafts agreements, and proposes Human Resource policies/procedures.
  • Serve as focal point for communication with plants and Union Representatives, as required.
  • Investigate andresolve employee relations complaints. Prepare and coordinate representation proceedings and otherdealings with government agencies, such as N.L.R.B., Wage and Hour, EEO, etc.
  • Participatein development of employee communication programs related to employee/labor relations designed to establish and maintain good morale and a thorough understanding of Company benefits, policies, programs and procedures.
  • Advise plant staff on Company HR policies and procedures, administrationof Company benefits such as insurance, retirement programs, etc.
  • Maintains current knowledge in field of Federal and State laws and advises on the effect on Group operations. Maintains current knowledge of trends in industrial relations, general wage movements, benefit programs, etc., andproposes changes to maintain comparative Company status.
  • Consult legal counsel and otherprofessional consultants to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment and labor laws.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor'sDegree in Labor Relations or a related field required. Master's degree in Labor & Industrial Relations or a Master's in Business Administration focused on HR preferred.

Experience/Skills/Knowledge
  • Collective bargaining experiences as chief spokesperson required.
  • Strong Human Resource generalist experience as an effective strategist and practitioner with a solid track record of successful execution of HR programs.
  • Must have a solid understanding and working knowledge of applicable labor and employment laws and regulations at the state and federal level, WARN, FLSA, NLRA, ERISA, etc....
  • Union avoidance experience is a significant plus.
  • The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with the ability to execute on strategy. Further, will possess strong analytical skills, be results orientated, and possessstrong business acumen.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and build strong partnerships,with a proven track record of developing and implementing innovative and progressive labor and employment practices.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills required as are strongmanagement and leadership skills. Proficient computer skills including Windows.
