Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) brings together American Express' merchant-and network-related businesses to enable a sharp focus on using the power of our network to provide unique value to all of our mutual customers. The organization manages the relationships with the millions of merchants around the world that accept American Express and runs the company's payment network and manages bank partnerships globally.

The mission of the GMNS Operational Excellence team is to support GMNS through continuous identification, assessment and management of risk to enable growth, minimize business disruption and avoid financial loss. GMNS Operational Excellence achieves this through providing risk expertise and insights to support risk-based decisioning, and by driving a consistent, repeatable, and integrated approach to support strong risk management. To that end, the team is responsible for the oversight and governance of control and compliance programs and initiatives within the business unit. This includes leading global, regional and local activities and also includes execution against all components of the American Express Operational Risk framework.

How will you make an impact in this role?

The Senior Manager on the Audit and Exam Management team will lead audit engagements on behalf of GMNS through a highly visible center of excellence model. This role offers an exciting opportunity to drive the continued evolution around governance and project management during the audit engagement process to create a seamless experience for our stakeholders. You will use your knowledge and expertise to provide tactical guidance while identifying opportunities to enhance the experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and facilitate internal/external audit and 2nd line of defense engagements on behalf of GMNS in collaboration with the auditors.
  • Provide program management guidance and reporting for audit activities initiated internally and externally.
  • Ensure timely completion of remediation activities and closure of audit action plans.
  • Coordinate and collaborate across multiple cross-functional workstreams to ensure appropriate accountability and ownership of activities and deliverables.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years' experience working with auditors and/or regulators
  • Self-starter who is highly organized, detail oriented and able to deliver with limited direction
  • Highly developed project management skills driving complex, cross-functional initiatives
    • Minimum 2 years of project management experience required.
  • Strong relationship and collaboration skills with the ability to influence a broad group of stakeholders at all levels
  • Outstanding communicator with the ability to convey complex topics in clear and effective manner and adapt based on audiences
  • Solid conceptual thinking and a risk mindset with the ability to identify linkages and business impacts
  • Flexibility to support varying time zones that have global considerations
  • Outstanding team player
  • Previous experience working within the financial services, payments and/or banking industry required.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of the merchant business, related regulatory landscape, and emerging trends/models preferred.
  • Previous experience working as a consultant in the risk and regulatory compliance space preferred.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel


Qualifications

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
