Johnson & Johnson MedTech Digital (JJMT) is recruiting for a Senior Manager, Platform and Cloud Engineering to join the platform engineering team with a mission to create new innovative solutions for digital surgery. This position will be based out of our Santa Clara, CA. location.

JJMT Digital is passionate about crafting the future of digital surgery by developing software products and solutions for hospitals, clinicians, and patients. These products will deliver a comprehensive digital surgery experience for J&J Med Tech customers and their patients from pre-operative care through post-operative support. This position will cloud infrastructure development and management including observability, DevOps, DevSecOps, tooling and FinOps. We seek a self-starter who will drive projects to achieve results and significant outcomes. You should be respected as a technical leader, able to influence, persuade and direct sound technical and architectural choices across many teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Infrastructure Engineering team, which provides compute as a service via managed Kubernetes or via third-party Kubernetes managed offerings.
  • Define the strategy for Infrastructure Engineering and platform engineering to provide self-service capabilities to internal and external development teams.
  • Establish unified observability across multi-cloud environments and drive adoption of FinOps.
  • Coordinate unit economics, including human capital costs, cloud costs, software licenses, third-party vendors, etc.
  • Act as a liaison to client and partner engineering teams to share the Developer Platforms mission, vision and roadmap
  • Work closely with the cyber security team to ensure effective implementation and operation of control frameworks, including SOC2, ISO, HiTrust, etc.
  • Gather input on client needs and proposed integration points with technical services which are delivered by our partner organizations
  • Review and provide feedback on features, technology, architecture, designs, time & budget estimates, and test strategies


Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Systems, is required. Masters or Advanced Degree preferred.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • 12+ years of relevant and progressive engineering experience along with 5+ years experience leading and managing teams
  • Proficiency in cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), Linux-based systems, container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)
  • Solid understanding of open-source and proprietary modern data technologies including Iceberg, Spark, Nifi, Jupyter Notebooks, Cloudera, Databricks, Kubeflow, MLFlow, Kafka, etc.
  • Experience managing a highly heterogeneous environment including multi-cloud applications, Linux and Windows infrastructures, microservices environments and legacy architectures. Ability to decide if/how to consolidate applications and cloud architectures
  • Consistent record of being able to drive down cost while maintaining a high level of availability; familiar with cost savings strategies associated with cloud savings plans and instance reservations
  • Expert level understanding of application monitoring and logging platforms (e.g. New Relic, Datadog, OpenTelemetry, etc.)
  • Deep understanding of end-to-end application and operational security practices including modern DevSecOps tools and processes
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale cloud infrastructures and distributed systems; strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and development
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, exceptional interpersonal skills, and proven track record to manage multiple projects with challenging timelines


Other:

  • This position will be based out of Santa Clara, CA. and may require up to 15% travel (international and domestic)
  • The anticipated base salary range for this role is $166,000 to $267,145
