Key Responsibilities:

The Project Management team serves the Technical Operations divisions of United Airlines in providing project methodologies to deliver assigned portfolios, programs, and projects on time, within scope, and of the highest quality. Responsible for the means and methods of project control and program management including standardization, process improvement and solutions: and working cross functionally with other key interfaces. Impacts approaches, projects, and programs in the airframe maintenance space. Impacts quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.

  • Responsible for defining, deploying, and leading project management related processes and support tools
  • Typically, a front-line manager of professionals or professional department, develop specialized knowledge in the program and serve as a best practice / quality resource
  • Has awareness of latest technical developments and contributes towards strategy and policy development while ensuring delivery within area of responsibility and Team Management
  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational / supplier management, materials management, logistics, manufacturing, technology, and engineering
  • Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience who may lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements
  • Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Develops persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field
  • Provides professional development and goal setting for direct reports

What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Business, Engineering, Aircraft Maintenance, or related field, or 4 years of relevant work experience
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in operations, strategy, planning, forecasting, engineering, or Continuous Improvement
  • 5 years' experience in leading multiple complex projects in aviation
  • Strong Project Management, Engineering, and Finance skills
  • Experience working cross functionally with other divisions
  • Strong focus on problem solving, continuous improvement
  • Travel up to 50%
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

  • Leadership experience in a technical operation environment

  • PMP Certification
  • LEAN and A3 Problem solving
