Job Overview:
This position reports to the Vice President of Marketing and will be responsible for formulating and executing marketing plans consistent with priorities outlined in the annual business plan. The Senior Marketing Manager is responsible for leading end to end planning and development of all Cub and Shoppers' marketing programs, including promotions, circular, signage, and media campaigns. This includes managing agency partners, developing productive partnerships with internal and external parties, and ensuring a high level of design / creative output that is consistent with brand guidelines.
This individual will lead key routine meetings, including weekly ad planning in partnership with merchandising team. This position will also evaluate, optimize, and manage marketing operations, including signage / ad requests. This role will have 1 direct report.
Job Responsibilities:
• Develop effective marketing strategies based on annual plan, company-wide goals, and customer & department priorities. This includes successful execution of media, advertising, and promotional campaigns with clear KPIs to assess performance (15%)
• Manage all marketing materials in partnership with agency: print/digital circular, e-mail, social, digital creative, billboard, radio, print, OTT, etc. based on connections plan (15%)
• Understanding of competitive and macro conditions that impact marketing effectiveness; plan/conduct research in partnership with 3rd party vendors to support annual planning process (10%)
• Ensure a high level of design quality and consistent brand standards in all consumer facing materials. Supervise preparation and design of all marketing materials to maintain brand standards, relevance, and impact as well as a consumer point of view (10%)
• Support in managing the marketing budget. Track actuals versus planned and reports monthly performance. Institute and recommend corrective actions when necessary (10%)
• Plays integral role in the management of external agency partners; manage all business reviews and priorities (10%)
• Partner with cross functional departments to ensure content is designed to achieve varying objectives (10%)
• Oversee brand guidelines and evolve as needed. Propose creative layouts for annual refresh (10%)
• Ensure all marketing in-store signage is in place and adheres to brand standards. Propose and gain approval for new in-store sign tactics (5%)
• Interface with UNFI's private brands team in the development of private brand promotional programs, themes and events (5%)
Job Requirements:
Education/ Certifications/or Equivalent combination of education training and experience:
• Bachelor's degree required. MBA or Advanced degree preferred.
Experience:
• 8+ years relevant marketing experience in Retail or CPG
• Extensive budget and project management experience
• Experience in creative / art direction and design
• Experience within an agency and/or managing agency partners
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
• Proven ability to effectively deliver efficient and effective creative & marketing solutions
• Proven accountability in developing effective spending levels and managing within committed budget parameters.
• Previously served as persuasive leader on cross-functional team or task force that successfully delivered a solution for given business challenge(s).
• Record of achieving objectives within time, cost, and profit parameters.
• Record of successfully working with growth-oriented company where it is necessary to react quickly to market changes and consumer trends.
• Leadership skills sufficient to successfully lead cross-functional teams and vendor experts.
• Possess strong problem-solving skills, goal oriented, self-motivated. Exhibits a sense of urgency, a positive attitude and a drive for success.
• Excellent computer skills, proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Experience setting direction and maintaining focus and alignment of work of multiple teams toward company objectives and future strategies
• Ability to prepare and present executive management level presentations.
• Possesses excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Creative thinker -a keen ability to evaluate big ideas and drive integration throughout all key touch points
• Proven leadership, organization and analytical problem-solving skills
• Possess ability to concentrate and deal with frequent interruptions with poise.
• Ability to travel as needed (~10%)
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/DEMANDS:
• Some travel may be required
• Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
• Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
• Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment in the course of a normal workday.
• Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in the completion of job duties.
