POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary

The Senior Master Scheduler prepares, plans, and controls production schedules. This role will coordinate efforts from purchasing and production to efficiently move material through the facility. They will maintain status of work progress, material availability, and identify any risks to customer commitment dates.

Principal Activities
  • Plan, prepare and control production schedules and coordinate with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved material times to meet production requirements.
  • Determine material requirements for engineering and production schedules.
  • Coordinate the efficient movement of materials with purchasing and production.
  • Responsible for scheduling, requisitioning and monitoring the movement of material through the production facility and will work on a wide variety of complex planning activities where material requirements are new or variable.
  • Ability to devise and augment spreadsheets to enhance planning's ability to proactively communicate information with a sense of urgency.
  • Advise management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members.
  • Liaise with stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
  • Identify areas of improvement for planning in the ERP system and work with IT on impact based solutions.
  • Where required, negotiate with other department managers for the acquisition of required resources.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
  • Utilize ERP system to manage material flow and work prioritization
  • Review established production schedules for all manufacturing departments to insure established inventory levels are met while operating at the highest efficiency possible.
  • Ensure material flow to the production line without material shortage and with appropriate inventory level
  • Manage and influence order commitment activities ensuring all goals are achieved
  • Provide strong interface between Supply Chain, Finance, and Commercial Operations to reduce all costs and cycle times to determine line rates, including 12-month planning horizons
  • Develop plan to assure inventory targets are achieved
  • Work with Product and Supply Chain Management team to develop new product lead times
  • Mentor and develop the planning team
  • All other tasks and responsibilities as assigned

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge Skills & Abilities
  • Strong MTO skills and disciplines
  • Strong computer skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point and/or Access) to analyze data and trends
  • Previous experience with master scheduling, capacity planning, inventory management and procurement
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and listening ability.
  • A strong ability to be adaptable and flexible
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work with teams and lead decision-making processes in a team environment
  • A self-starter, a highly motivated person able to work in a fast paced environment that is continually changing
  • Highly motivated, results oriented, driven
  • Must demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience coordinating many small projects/activities at one time.
  • Expert proficiency with ERP systems required; SME or experience in new ERP implementation preferred

Education & Experience
  • A minimum of bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or other related field note: experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • 5+ years progressive experience as a supervisor in sales and operations planning roles
