Job Summary

A Senior Network Security Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of the organization's network security infrastructure. This role involves protecting the company's data, systems, and networks from cyber threats and ensuring compliance with security policies and regulations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in network security, a strong understanding of current security threats, and a proactive approach to enhancing security measures.

Responsibilities

Design and Implementation:
  • Design, configure, and deploy network security solutions including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), VPNs, and anti-virus/malware protection.
  • Develop and implement security policies, protocols, and procedures.

Monitoring and Response:
  • Monitor network traffic for unusual activity and potential threats.
  • Respond to security incidents and breaches, conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective measures.
  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.

Maintenance and Updates:
  • Ensure all network security hardware and software are updated and patched to protect against vulnerabilities. Maintain and update documentation related to network security infrastructure.

Collaboration and Training:
  • Work closely with IT teams, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure secure network design and operations. Provide guidance and training to junior security staff and other employees on security best practices.

Research and Development:
  • Stay updated on the latest network security trends, tools, and technologies.
  • Research and evaluate new security technologies to enhance the organization's security posture.

Compliance and Reporting:
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, legal regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Prepare detailed reports on security status, incidents, and remediation efforts for management.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum five years of experience in network security engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience with firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and network protocols.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or equivalent.
  • In-depth knowledge of network security architecture and protocols.
  • Proficiency in security tools and technologies (e.g., firewalls, anti-virus software, SIEM, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
  • Experience with cloud security and securing hybrid environments is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation and task simplification is preferred.
  • Experience with security incident response and digital forensics is preferred.
