SENIOR ORACLE DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR

ALTA IT Services is seeking a Senior level Oracle Database Administrator to support a Maryland-based health insurance customer. This is a 12 month+ contract opening, 100% remote. Candidates must reside in EST or CT zones.

The ideal candidate will be an individual contributor with sold PL/SQL and Oracle DBA skills to resolve day to day database issues, identify root causes, write scripts (PL/SQL, QTP robots) and re-run batch processes and jobs.

PURPOSE:
  • Assists, defines, and/or oversees database organization, standards, controls, procedures, and documentation. Provides recommendations in the definition, design, and creation of a database environment. Develops applications to help solve database solutions to business problems, data architectures, database management system facilities and capabilities, and the operation and tuning of databases. Designs, implements, and maintains databases with respect to access methods, access time, batch processes, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods. Maintains database dictionaries and integrates systems through database design. Maintains and documents shell scripts and batch processes. Lead and mentor less experience Administrators.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • 20% Maintains and documents shell scripts and batch processes. Develops and applies procedures for periodic database backup. Executes processes in SQL for databases such as stored procedures/functions/packages, database job, materialized view, view, synonyms, and DB link. Analyzes impact on database before making any changes to database.
  • 20% Leads most technical aspects of implementing project release upgrades for assigned systems which includes: properly following a project life cycle, the development of project plans, completing all appropriate documentation and notifications in order to obtain resolution within the established timeframes.
  • 15% Develops applications to help solve database solutions to business problems, data architectures, database management system facilities and capabilities, and the operation and tuning of databases. Provides recommendations in the definition, design, and creation of a database environment.
    15% Develop and implement techniques to prevent system problems, troubleshoot incidents to recover services, and support root cause analysis.
  • 15% Designs, implements, and maintains databases with respect to access methods, access time, batch processes, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods.
  • 15% Lead, train, and mentor less experience Administrators.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education Level: Bachelor's Degree, Computer Science or related IT field
  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in performing full data management duties, including migration and continuous integration/delivery.
  • In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.
  • Proficient with SQL performance and tuning.
  • High-level of analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to train others.
  • In-depth knowledge of Oracle, DB2, MS SQL Server and similar databases
  • Knowledge of structured query language (SQL)


HOURLY RATE: $85/HR. Range. Benefits Available
