Job Summary
The Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for providing timely and accurately process of biweekly, weekly and incentive payrolls for the Americas. Duties include reporting relocation expenses, training new team members, maintaining standard operating procedures (SOP), and working with internal and external auditors. Through changing business environment, this position will act as project lead for acquisitions, mergers, and process modifications and adjustments.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Primary objective is to process biweekly and weekly payroll in a timely and accurate manner while providing excellent customer service to all levels of employees.
  • Ensure all payroll data is compliant with applicable state and local payroll regulations and corporate policies.
  • Responsible for balancing and reviewing all taxes related to assigned payroll, including Federal, State, FICA plus the balancing of W-2s.
  • Audit changes (new hires/joiners, pay changes, terminations/leavers) that come from Workday HRIS each pay period to ensure payroll accuracy.
  • Work with internal and external auditors for testing of SOX compliance and internal controls.
  • Oversee supplemental payroll inputs such as wage garnishments, loans, or levies.
  • Ensure payroll results and general ledger reports are transmitted to Finance.
  • Support reporting, tax filing, and vendor requests pertaining to each payroll run.
  • Running reports as requested by the business.
  • Perform payroll audit reconciliations.
  • In collaboration with external provider, stay current on payroll practices and regulations for Canada.
  • Generate off-cycle payments as required.
  • Responsible for answering employee questions and troubleshooting issues in a timely manner.

Education and Experience Profile
  • Requires 3+ years' related experience in a professional role.
  • At least 5 years of experience processing payroll for salaried and hourly employees.
  • Prior payroll processing experience with more than one country preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent experience

Required Skills
  • Requires knowledge of standard payroll concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Experience with cloud-based payroll systems, preferably working with outsourced services.
  • Experience with trade union environment is a plus.
  • Experience with time shift models.
  • Fluent in English, multilingual a plus.
  • Must demonstrate the highest degree of confidentiality and integrity.
  • Knowledgeable of Sarbanes-Oxley controls.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word).
  • Self-motivated with the ability to complete tasks efficiently, timely and accurately.
  • Must be able to work and thrive in a global team-based environment.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and providing a high-level of customer service.
