Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager I, the Senior Personnel Specialist (SPS) works at the expert/journey level performing the most difficult and complex personnel/payroll transactions. The incumbent must possess a high degree of independence and problem-solving ability, as well as have the ability to think logically, multitask, and apply laws, rules, regulations, and bargaining unit contract provisions concerning personnel transactions. Incumbent must have knowledge of California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), State Personnel Board (SPB) and California Department of Human Resource (CalHR) laws, rules and policies, Workers' Compensation (WC), State Controller's Office (SCO) automated payroll system and California Leave Accounting System. Duties may also include, but are not limited to, working in a team environment as coordinator for a variety of statewide personnel/payroll programs related to Worker's Compensation, State Disability Insurance, Paid Family Leave, Non-Industrial Disability Insurance, manage accounts receivables, and requests for lump sum deferral relating to these programs.

Background Investigation Requirement
